Naval Hospital Naples FAQs

I or a family member was born at your facility. Where can I get a copy of the birth certificate?
We do not keep records of birth certificates at any of our facilities. You will need to request a certificate of birth abroad from the U.S. Department of State. How do I obtain a tourist passport?
All tourist passport applications are handled by the U.S. Consulate General Naples. Individuals must make an appointment with the Consulate in Naples to apply for a tourist passport. Visit https://it.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/.
I need to update my vaccination record. How and when can I do that?

You do not need an appointment to update your immunizations, however be advised that some updates could take a few days to process onto your medical records. The Immunizations Clinic hours of operation are as follows:
Mon-Wed-Thurs-Fri: 0800-1130 & 1300-1530
Tues: 0800-1130
I am an American and would like to work at the Support Site hospital and/or Capodichino Branch Health Clinic. How do I find employment?

I want to volunteer at the Support Site hospital and/or the Capodichino Branch Health Clinic. What is the process?
We can only accept volunteers through the American Red Cross. To begin the volunteer process, contact the American Red Cross at Naples@RedCross.org or call DSN 314-626-4788.
How do I make an appointment?
There are multiple ways to make an appointment either with your Primary Care Manager (PCM) or with a health care professional. You may either call our appointment line at 081-811-6000 (DSN 629-6000).Or you can contact us via www.TRICAREOnline.com. In order to uphold patient privacy, our front desk staff does not make appointments from walk-in’s.
I'm a reservist and would like to do my annual training (AT) at your facility. Who do I contact to set this up?
Reservists wishing to perform their annual training at the Support Site Hospital should contact our Operational Support Officer, HM2 Delmundo at michael.delmundo.mil@mail.mil.
I am a retiree living in the Naples area. Am I able to receive care and utilize services within the hospital?
Retirees can be seen for a health exam on a space available basis.
I've heard there is a list of English speaking doctors in the Naples area. Where can I find that list?

I am due to PCS to Naval Support Activity Naples. What is the medical screening process like?
All dependents and those traveling on orders are required to be medically screened prior to arriving in Naples.You and your family members will need to have current medical records on file.Once our Overseas Screening team receives the records, they are reviewed, and a determination of suitability is made.Any inquiries should be made to usn.naples.navhospnaplesit.list.nhnap-fleet-liaison-all-hands@mail.mil.

How can I schedule a COVID test for my upcoming: official travel (TAD, TDY, PCS), Deployment, Emergency leave or unofficial travel?
1. I think I have COVID, what should I do?
1. If you are experiencing symptoms of illness similar to influenza or the common cold (fever, body aches, stuffy or runny nose, headache, sore throat, or cough) you should:
  1. Stay home from work, school, or public places until symptoms have resolved or are much better.
  2. Wear a surgical, FFP2, or N95 mask to protect others from your illness.
  3. Contact your primary care using Secure Messaging via www.tricareonline.com, or by calling +39-081-811-6000 (DSN 629-6000) for a virtual appointment.
1. Some COVID-19 infections can be serious, be aware of emergency warning signs and seek emergency care if you are experiencing:
  1. Trouble breathing
  2. Persistent chest pain or pressure
  3. Confusion
  4. Inability to stay awake
  5. Pale, gray, or blue colored skin, lips, or nail beds, depending on skin tone

2. All COVID-19 Travel testing will be conducted:
  1. Monday-Friday between 0800 - 1000 (excluding holidays)
  2. Weekends and Holidays 0900 - 1030
3. For Unofficial Travel, COVID-19 testing is available to Tricare beneficiaries ONLY at the Hospital trailer testing site during published testing hours. Tricare beneficiaries must reasonably demonstrate testing is required for upcoming travel (e.g. host nation or airline requirements). Unofficial testing is provided on a Space Available (Space-A) basis, subject to supplies, resources, and manpower after clinical and official travel testing is complete.
4. For Unofficial Travel you may report directly to the testing trailer, and will need to provide the following:
  1. Last, First Name
  2. DOD ID Number
  3. Preferred Email
  4. Contact Phone Number
  5. Documentation of need for testing, e.g. copy of airline/host nation travel requirement
How do I schedule travel testing for PCS?
1. For PCS travel contact: usn.naples.navhospnaplesit.list.covid-pcs-swab-team@mail.mil
2. You will need to provide the following information:
  1. Names of all members traveling & their relationship to the sponsor
  2. DoD ID numbers of all members traveling
  3. Copy of Official PCS orders
  4. Date & time of scheduled flight
  5. Contact information: Cell phone and personal email address
When are my results going to be back from my COVID test?
1. For rapid antigen tests conducted at the USNH Naples testing trailers, your results will be printed and available ONLY at the trailer for pick up until 1100. Any results not picked up at the trailer are available through 06:30 the next day in the Emergency Room. After that, results must be obtained from Outpatient Records. Please note the following schedule:
2. Monday-Friday between 0800 - 1000 and results (excluding holidays)
3. Antigen swabs collected before 1000: Results available at 1045.
4. PCR results are coordinated at the time of test registration with the PCS swab team or Fleet Liaison
5. Weekends and Holidays 0900 – 1030
6. Antigen swabs collected before 1030: Results available at 1200
7. PCR results are coordinated at the time of test registration with the PCS Swab team or Fleet Liaison
8. PCR tests can take up to 8-hours to process. Results for PCS and Official Travel will be sent via email within 24-hours of test being performed and are typically sent the night of the test. For issues, please contact usn.naples.navhospnaplesit.list.covid-pcs-swab-team@mail.mil
9. Results are viewable via Tricare Online within 24 hours after collecting the sample. Go to www.tricareonline.com
  1. Tricare online is an easy and secure website for reviewing you or your household’s health care information.
  2. It does not require a CAC-log on
  3. Tricare online is available to Tricare beneficiaries (Active Duty, Dependents, and Retirees), DOD Civilians, and DOD Contractors who have a DOD ID number. It is not available for NATO personnel and their dependents who do not possess a DOD ID Number.
I took an ‘at home’ COVID test and it was Positive, what do I do?
1. Please report to COVID Testing Trailers for confirmatory testing (behind Hospital located outside of the Emergency Department) between 0800-1000 Mon-Fri or Sat/Sun at 0900 - 1030.
1. If you have a medical condition that puts you at high-risk for complications, please contact your PCM to discuss your condition and whether you qualify for oral antiviral therapy. Are you able to determine the Variant of COVID from my COVID Test?
1. No, we do not have genomic sequencing capabilities at U.S. Naval Hospital Naples.
What should I do if I have been exposed to COVID-19?
1. Contact your chain of command for guidance or check the most recent guidance posted by the Commander, NSA Support Site: NAVSUPPACT Naples Notice 6200 (https://www.cnic.navy.mil/regions/cnreurafcent/installations/nsa_naples/about/departments/administration_n1/administrative_services/notices.html)
My child was identified as close proximity to a COVID-19 positive student at Naples Elementary/Naples Middle High School. What should I do?

I recently recovered from COVID, how do I obtain a Recovery letter?
1. Please contact your Primary Care Manager for a recovery letter.
If I am TRICARE eligible individual, do I have to get my COVID-19 test at the Hospital?
1. No, but host nation testing sites may not accept Tricare and require payment for the test.
What should I do if I am a pay/non-TRICARE patient and want to get a COVID-19 test?
1. If you are a Non-TRICARE patient (e.g. U.S. DoD civilian employees/contractors and family members, NATO personnel), then you are eligible to receive medical care including COVID -19 testing (other than occupational health services) on a reimbursable basis.
1. You may get a COVID-19 test out on the economy at your expense.
1. All laboratories are required by Italian law to notify the Regional Health Unit for positive or negative tests.
Does the Hospital and Clinic offer self-testing kits for COVID?
1. If you test positive for COVID and are a Tricare beneficiary, you may receive a small number of home self-test kits to assist with testing out of ROM. Instructions on testing and follow up will be provided by the hospital or clinic where you received the test.
2. If you have a U.S. mailing address (including APO/FPO addresses) and would like to receive a free at-home test kit, you can request it from: https://www.covid.gov/tests.
What do I do if I need to get tested outside of the hours listed for testing?
1. You can get a COVID test out on the economy
2. You can wait till the next available testing day to obtain your COVID test
3. For Emergencies (i.e. Emergency Leave, urgent official travel), please contact your Command Duty Officer who can contact the Hospital’s Officer of the Day to arrange testing.
